Bank of Sharjah, has become one of the first major banks of the United Arab Emirates to complete an ATM network-wide upgrade to Windows 7, in partnership with Ireland's CR2, according to a news release.

The FI has implemented the CR2 product BankWorld to simplify Windows 7 rollout, and subsequently, to manage and monitor its ATM network from a single point.

Bank of Sharjah is using the existing Windows-based BankWorld ATM client solution on its ATM network, following advanced certification testing of the Windows 7 platform at CR2 ATM lab in Dublin.

By maintaining the services interface and functions cross-platform, BankWorld can be run on both XP and Windows 7 enabled ATMs with no changes required on the BankWorld server. According to the release, this allowed Bank of Sharjah to migrate its ATM network seamlessly from XP to Windows 7.

In combination, Windows 7 OS and BankWorld software allow the Bank of Sharjah to design screens, manage and deliver personalized offerings, and monitor the entire distribution and customer channel network from a single platform, the release said.
