CR2 announces results of banking software survey

73% of banks surveyed plan to invest in Internet banking in the next 12 months

Dublin, 23 July 2004 – CR2, a global provider of channel banking, ATM and card payment solutions, have announced the results of their latest banking survey

All respondents are financial organisations that use vendor banking software and 65% were from Africa and the Middle East+.  73% said that they plan to invest in Internet banking in the next 12 months.

Other important findings from the survey are:

  • 65% of respondents stated that multi channel management is the single most important technology for the bank in the next 12 months.
  • CRM, the second most important, lies at 27%.
  • A Celent survey carried out in April 2004 supports this and indicates that over 80% of major banks worldwide are currently engaged in or planning channel integration projects.
  • Product quality and customer service were considered the two highest priorities a software vendor should have.

Despite the January 2006 timeline for implementation of EMV initiative for CEMEA, most banks have yet to start.  CR2's Head of Product Management, Sean Jevens, said "An issue for concern is the lack of urgency associated with EMV. Less than 10% of respondents have actually started their EMV project"

CR2 plan to conduct this survey annually.
