ControlScan adds PCI Data Security Essentials to SecureEdge platform

ControlScan, a provider of managed security and compliance solutions designed to secure networks and protect payment card data, has added Payment Card Industry Data Security Essentials for small businesses to its SecureEdge platform.

According to a press release, payment service providers can leverage this new capability as a user-friendly alternative to the PCI Self-Assessment Questionnaire.

The traditional PCI self-assessment process has been a barrier to many small businesses, because they don't typically have the in-house technical expertise to effectively understand and complete the SAQ, ControlScan said.

Data Security Essentials streamlines and simplifies the process, while educating merchants so that they can achieve a strong security posture.

"Incorporating Data Security Essentials into the SecureEdge technology platform allows our payments industry partners to offer their smaller merchants a less painful, more educational PCI experience," Chris Bucolo, a member of the small merchant task force and ControlScan vice president of market strategy, said in the release. "This builds real relationship value by strengthening the merchant's security posture and reducing both parties' data breach risk."
