Companies offer classes for TG-3 certification

February 23, 2003

CONCORD, N.C. -- Abraham & Associates, Inc. and Fagan & Associates are offering four-day classes that will result in the necessary certification for organizations that accept or process PIN-based transactions and must complete periodic network security reviews.

According to a news release, the reviews use Technical Guideline 3 (TG-3) to measure compliance with ANSI Standards X9.8 (PIN management) and X9.24 (key management). All reviewers must be certified to submit reviews to the networks.

Dennis "Abe" Abraham and Jeanne Fagan, who have a combined 40 years of industry experience with PIN and key management, teach the classes, which emphasize understanding and comprehension of the principles of PIN and key management reinforced by daily group projects.

According to the release, topics include ATM and point-of-sale transactions, network topology, key life cycle, current and developing ANSI standards, PIN entry devices, DES and triple DES and public key applications for remote re-keying.

Every TG-3 question is  discussed to ensure the student understands the reason for the question and how to measure compliance, according to the release.

In addition to the four-day class, the companies are offering a two-day class offering training for those desiring to learn the technical information without a need for certification. The two-day class also satisfies the 24-month refresher requirement for certified reviewers.

The classes are offered in Las Vegas April 28-May 6, and in New Orleans July 10-17. Cost is $1,325 for the four-day and $695 for the two-day class. Full details and registration are available, along with a brochure to download, online.
