Commerce Bank waives ATM fees to attract new customers

March 5, 2002

CHERRY HILL, N.J. -- Commerce Bancorp, Inc. (NYSE Symbol: CBH) will not charge non-customers a convenience fee for using ATMs at its branch locations during the summer months.

The ATMs at all 130 Commerce Bank branch locations will be free to all, from now through Labor Day, Sept. 4.

According to the bank, which has $7.3 billion in assets, its "Summertime Special" is designed to showcase the services offered at its branches in New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania and northern Delaware to prospective new customers.

Among the products and services the bank says it offers: the longest branch banking hours in the region (including Saturdays and Sundays), Commerce's "Penny Arcades" (free coin-counting machines), free checking for a customer's first year and an award-winning Internet banking service.

During 2000, the bank will open 30 new branches in the tri-state region.
