Coastal Community Credit Union debuts video teller ATMs

Canada's Coastal Community Credit Union has installed its first NCR APTRA Interactive Teller ATM in a newly opened branch in Duncan, on Vancouver Island. The technology will connect Coastal Community members to a live remote teller who can assist them in performing virtually all teller-window transactions at the ATM.

Coastal Community is the largest financial institution based on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands in British Columbia, Canada. The FI serves 80,000 members and has more than $2.1 billion in assets under administration.

Using the self-service technology of Interactive Teller, Coastal Community has been able to build a new branch that's half the usual size while still providing full access to products and services across its personal banking, business banking, insurance and wealth management business lines.

"Coastal Community is taking an innovative approach to expanding their service model by increasing distribution and access to their members," said Brian Bailey, general manager of NCR branch transformation. "With 80 percent of product sales still being fulfilled at the branch, it is more important than ever that financial institutions offer an excellent customer experience.
