Citizens to roll out zero-overdraft fee checking accounts

Citizens recently launched its overdraft-free checking account to aid underbanked and financially underserved communities. This EverValue Checking account will feature a monthly cost of $5, but will have no nonsufficient fund fees, according to a press release.

"Citizens EverValue and Student Checking are the latest in a series of changes to our product suite to ensure customers have a simple, safe and transparent way to bank," Brendan Coughlin, head of consumer banking at Citizens, said in the release. "Citizens is committed to helping all customers feel more confident in their financial lives, including avoiding unnecessary fees keeping more of their money in their pocket."

This checking account will also offer mobile deposit as well as bill pay. With the Student Checking, customers do not need a minimum balance and do not have to pay a monthly maintenance fee.
