Citizens Bank in Florence, S.C. is offering customers a new way to get banking documents signed without getting out of the car: call-ahead curbside bank service.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, bank personnel realized customers may not be comfortable coming inside the branch to handle transactions. Citizen's Bank president Tommy Bouchette brainstormed with staff to provide another option that's both convenient and safe, according to a report from WMBF News.
When customers have to sign documents, they just call the bank to give them an estimated time of arrival, park in a designated 'curbside banking' spot and call the bank to say they arrived. A bank staff member comes out to the customer's car with the documents, has the customer sign them and brings them back into the bank for processing.
"We anticipate that not everyone will want to do this, but it's not intended for everyone to use it. We aren't trying to drive our customers to use any of our different options. We're just trying to provide one more option and whatever makes them feel the safest and is most convenient, that's what we'll provide for them," Bouchette told the news outlet.
Call-ahead curbside banking is available at every Citizen's Bank branch.
