Chinese bank to manage ATMs with Gasper Vantage

August 12, 2003

NANJING, China -- Bank of Communications' Nanjing branch has concluded the first phase of its implementation of Gasper Vantage, an automated ATM management system.

Working with NCRand its wholly-owned, independent subsidiary, Gasper Corporation, the Nanjing branch's implementation of Gasper Vantage is the first in China.

NCR is supplying Bank of Communications with Personas ATMs and APTRA software for its 50 branches in China. (See related story NCR signs deals with 2 Chinese banks)

Gasper Vantage allows the Nanjing branch to monitor the status of all of the different brands of ATMs in its network and automatically dispatch service teams when ATMs go out of service.

"NCR and Gasper are helping us to build a better network and provide better service to our valued customers," said Wang Jin Min, Nanjing branch's assistant general manager of Electronic Banking.

According to a news release, Gasper Corporation's solutions are used by more than 160 deployers and processors in 38 countries to manage more than 200,000 self-service terminals, primarily ATMs.

The Nanjing branch is already seeing benefits from its use of Gasper Vantage.

"The first thing we discovered when we implemented the system was that our ATM availability was lower than we thought," Wang said. "This might not sound like good news, but the reality is that you can't fix something if you don't know it's broken. Now that we have a realistic picture of the performance of our network, we can take actions to improve the availability of our ATMs and that's good news for everyone involved."
