Chicago man discovers ATM skimming device at Walgreens

Eric Newbery, a Chicago resident, recently discovered an ATM skimming device at an ATM at a Lakeview Walgreens location. He removed the skimmer from the ATM and filmed the removal, according to a report by CBS Chicago.

"When I inserted my card, it just felt off," Newbery told the news outlet. "I tugged on it, and I noticed that it moved, and at that point is when I got my phone out, and I said, 'Well, I'm going to record this, because I'm not about break this ATM machine.'"

With skimming devices criminals store data from the card, which can be wirelessly transferred later for fraud. Newbery reported the incident to the police.
