"We are pleased to be working with CCS and Diebold," said Joe Speaker, senior vice president finance and administration for Rite Aid. "We feel that it is very important to have a large and reliable network of in-store ATMs, as they add an important convenience for our customers." The Rite Aid installation includes more than 800 Rite Aid stores across the U.S. Stores will be equipped with Diebold CashSource Plus 200 mid-range retail cash dispensers. The units' color display screen will be used to present promotional and marketing messages. Installation will be complete by April 1, 2000. CCS approached Rite Aid to discuss the expansion and enhancement of its ATM network. When Rite Aid expressed interest in pursuing an agreement, CCS and Diebold developed a proposal. The Rite Aid arrangement is a departure from past practices for Diebold. Dave Grano, president and CEO of CCS, said, "It is our goal to provide a low-cost, high-return solution to Rite Aid. This agreement enables all parties to leverage their unique strengths in providing a benefit to Rite Aid stores and more importantly to Rite Aid customers."
