Carver Federal Savings Bank, a subsidiary of Carver Bancorp Inc. based in Harlem, New York, has announced its customers can now make withdrawals at Wells Fargo & Co. ATMs without a surcharge fee. This is part of an effort on Wells Fargo's part to support Minority Depository Institutions such as Carver Federal Saving Bank, which was founded to reach the Black community, according to a press release.
Carver invests 80 cents of each deposited dollar back into the communities it serves. Wells Fargo has pledged to invest up to $50 million in MDIs like Carver.
"We are proud to partner with Carver and work to drive positive, long-term economic impact within the diverse communities the bank serves," Jonathan Jacob, SVP, corporate development at Wells Fargo, said in the release. "In addition to our equity capital investment in Carver, and providing the bank with a dedicated Wells Fargo relationship team, we are pleased to make our nationwide ATM network available to Carver customers, giving them increased access to their money across the U.S."
