May 2, 2013

Cardtronics USA Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Cardtronics Inc., has acquired the assets of Aptus Financial. Aptus provides ATM services to a nationwide fleet of 3,300 ATMs, with the vast majority owned by independent merchants.

Aptus Financial was founded in 2002 and is based in Portland, Ore. According to a report by American Banker, the company will change to the Cardtronics USA brand, and its headquarters will serve as a regional office for Cardtronics, which is based in Houston.

The transaction was signed and closed on May 1; terms of the deal were not disclosed. A Cardtronics spokesperson said that it has not yet been determined whether Aptus management will continue with the company following the sale.
