HOUSTON - Cardtronics, the nation's largest non-bank owner/operator of ATMs, has appointed Jerry Garcia to the newly created position of chief information officer.
Garcia, whose career has spanned more than 20 years in the areas of operations, information technology and management and auditing, will be responsible for information systems, information technology, processor relations and cash management for Cardtronics.
He was most recently senior vice president of e-Business with Alltel Information Services, a provider of technology to the financial services industry. Prior to Alltel, Garcia was director of Technology, Consumer Banking Group at First Union (now Wachovia), in Charlotte, N.C. He also spent nine years with USAA Federal Savings Bank in San Antonio, Texas, where he held various positions.
Jack Antonini, Cardtronics president and chief executive, said, "(Garcia's) extensive background in operations, information technology and internal controls provides a solid foundation for his role as chief information officer. In an industry with a significant focus on data and information, it is imperative to have people like Jerry on board to ensure the integrity, utility and proper controls over the use of that important resource."
