Cardinal Credit Union, the official credit union of the Cleveland Browns, has partnered with Bits of Stock to provide a stock rewards program to 18-to-28 year old checking account holders. The service is designed to help students and young investors build wealth and learn better financial habits through fractional stock ownership, according to a press release.
Through the platform, investors can earn rewards on each Visa debit card purchase, which can be redeemed into fractional shares of certain publicly traded stocks. They can also access the Bits of Stock brokerage account dashboard to perform stock trades. The credit union selected this platform as industry research shows that 67% of Gen Z want to start investing with a small amount first.
"We are helping student and younger members build a strong financial foundation while making investing accessible and rewarding," Christine Blake, CEO of Cardinal Credit Union, said in the release. "There is tremendous value in this program as it encourages investors to learn about accumulating assets and building wealth in early adulthood."
Bits of Stock is directly integrated into Cardinal Credit Union's digital banking platform.
"Bits of Stock is redefining how people think about rewards and investing," Arash Asady, CEO of Bits of Stock, said in the release. "This initiative is a game-changer for younger investors, allowing them to start building wealth through everyday spending and to watch their investments grow."
