Card companies go after teens with trendy prepaid cards

USA Today: Credit card companies are trying to entice young users with prepaid cards plastered with images of their favorite icons, including R&B performer Usher and girly cartoon character Hello Kitty. Critics say the cards promote spending and keep users from building credit history. The credit card companies contend prepaid cards cultivate responsible spending habits among teens who can't get checking and credit accounts.
