Card Capture shines with Chevron ATM deployment

September 13, 1999

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Since it began its affiliation with Chevron Corp. convenience store franchises last January, Card Capture Services has deployed 230 ATMs with a total of 338. Chevron Products Company, a division of Chevron, chose Card Capture in response to demands from dealers for the company to standardize its ATM program. Card Capture Services (CCS) was selected from among five bank and independent finalists. Since Chevron dealers are connected to its own proprietary VSAT satellite communications network, Chevron is able to collect electronic data, such as credit card, POS and transaction information from the ATMs. A promotional effort to boost transaction levels appears to be working. Consumers can receive buy-one-get-one free Pepsi drink coupons dispensed by the Chevron units. The success of the Chevron ATM deployment has been good news for CCS in the wake of its failed plans to deploy 500 ATMs at Hollywood Video stores due to a lack of transactions determined in market tests.
