MONTREAL - Caisse Desjardins customers will soon face new security measures in an effort to combat the problem of thieves using cloned ATM/debit cards to withdraw cash from ATMs.
According to a Canoe Press report, customers of the bank will now have to enter their birthdate as well as their PIN when taking out more than $400 or depositing more than $1,000 at a Caisse machine.
A wrong date automatically cancels the transaction.
"We wanted to find a solution right away to block whatever frauds can be done over our ATMs," Desjardins spokesman Andre Chapleau told CBC Radio.
