C-store operator joins Genpass surcharge-free ATM network

IRVING, Texas - Petro Express Corp., operator of 54 Petro Express Convenience Store locations in North and South Carolina, has added the ATMs in Petro Express stores to the MoneyPass Surcharge-Free Network.

Genpass, Inc., manager of the MoneyPass EFT network and the second largest ATM driver in the United States, launched the MoneyPass Surcharge-Free Network in November. (See related story Genpass creates new surcharge-free network)

Union Planters Corporation (NYSE:UPC), the largest bank holding company headquartered in Tennessee with nearly 900 ATMs located in 12 states, was the charter participant in the new network, according to a news release.

"Any cardholder with a MoneyPass eligible card can obtain their cash surcharge-free at the ATM in any of our stores," said Tony Sanfillippo, general manager of Petro Express. "The willingness of consumers to change buying habits to obtain their cash from surcharge-free ATMs is a proven model, significantly increasing per-store sales."

Gary Staub, chief marketing officer of Genpass Technologies, called Petro Express "a great partner, with a strong, recognizable brand in a major Southeast market."
