But is it EMV compliant?

A British man used needlework to make the point that Santander Bank was taking much too long to come across with his replacement debit card.

May 21, 2015

You'd usually expect to see cross stitch employed in crafty wedding samplers or country-quaint sofa pillows. But debit cards? Not so much.

However, judging by his Instagram photos, Londoner Keith Clark is not the "usual" cross stitcher.

Fed up with the 20-day wait for his replacement Santander debit card (the original was skimmed), Clark finally sent a pointed complaint to the bank this week — in the form of a needleworked debit card facsimile and accompanying letter:

Hello again Santander customer service,

In case you don't remember me from yesterday, I've been waiting for my replacement debit card for twenty days now. I've spoken to branches, customer services, complaints, and yet still I wait.

So I was wondering just how long it takes to make and send a debit card? ...

So last night what I did was make YOU guys a debit card, from cross-stitch, as you can see in the attached picture, and this morning I popped it in the post, marked for your head office, and, thanks to the magic of recorded delivery, we're going to see how long it takes to get to you. ...

I'll be back soon with the results.

Have a great day guys.
