Burroughs CAPI software adds user-controlled features

The common application programming interface for the company's scanner software now lets the user decide how to handle exceptions and other operational factors.

September 8, 2014

Burroughs Inc., a provider of financial item processing equipment and software, has announced enhancements to its scanner interface software. Additional user-controlled options in the company's common application programming interface reduce dependence on application customization to implement key user features.

CAPI lets the user decide how to handle exceptions and other operational factors, rather than depending on an application provider to make changes at additional cost. New features enable the user to:

  • automatically enhance user-defined regions of an image to improve legibility of very faint legal and courtesy amounts often encountered on money orders;
  • automatically deskew images of items captured at an angle;
  • provide operator pop-up messages for selected exceptions to facilitate correction and improve operator efficiency;
  • manage consumable requirements for endorsements, through dynamic ink use options; and
  • provide automatic outsorting (on two pocket scanners) of affected items in the event of any defined exception condition, for increased throughput and efficiency.

The enhanced version of CAPI is currently available.
