Bulgarian payment system to use PROGNOSIS to manage ATMs

December 9, 2003

DENVER - Borica (Bank Organisation for Payments Initiated by Cards Ltd.), a subsidiary of Bulgaria National Bank, has purchased PROGNOSIS, a real-time systems management software from Integrated Research (IR), to manage its national ATM and point-of-sale network systems.

According to a news release, Borica operates the Bulgarian ATM/POS network using HP NonStop servers and the STEPS application software from Banksys Belgium. As a national card payments operator, Borica services both card issuance and authorization of card payment operations in the country, and provides those services for the largest Bulgarian banks.

Because of the complex nature of the ATM/POS environment, Borica was looking for a product to monitor several systems and application components in parallel, according to Simeon Chuhovski, Borica's head of real-time systems.

PROGNOSIS'  consolidated graphical interface, multi-platform support and the ability analyze problems in real-time made it an attractive product, Chuhovski said. "Because our applications are also very similar to those used by Banksys, and Banksys has standardized on PROGNOSIS to manage its applications, it made sense that we follow suit."

PROGNOSIS will be used to manage Borica's HP NonStop S7404 servers running NonStop Kernel G06.14. Nine PROGNOSIS modules made up the sale, including PROGNOSIS Graphical Presentations, Disk Manager, Batch Manager, Pathway Manager, Availability Reporting, Automated Analyst and the PROGNOSIS Application Development Interface (ADI).

According to the release, PROGNOSIS is available on the Windows, UNIX, Linux and HP NonStop(TM) platforms.
