Branding benefits E*TRADE ATMs

April 12, 2001

PORTLAND, Ore. – E*TRADE Access Inc., which re-branded some of its ATMs as E*TRADE machines last fall, said that transaction volume at its re-branded ATMs increased by 16 percent between November 2000 and January 2001.

E*TRADE ATM, the third-largest ATM network in North America, has more than 10,000 ATMs in operation. It said in a news release that the increased level of transactions is evidence of customer confidence in the E*TRADE brand, and the offering of free transactions to the E*TRADE Group's internet bank, E*TRADE Bank. "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><?xml:namespace prefix = o />

The release said the 16 percent increase on the limited, undisclosed number of ATMs bucks a national trend in which transactions per ATM have fallen in two of the last three years. It said that a 16 percent increase on a typical merchant's ATM would boost annual revenue from a machine by $1,440 per year.
