BlueShore Financial, Cardtronics outfit ATMs in Canada for envelope-free deposits

April 5, 2019

BlueShore Financial, a Canadian full-service financial institution, is equipping its ATMs to receive envelope-free deposits through a partnership with Cardtronics PLC, according to a press release.

Instead of sealing checks and cash in a deposit envelope, ATM users simply place their deposit items directly into the machine. On-screen images verify the amount of the deposit, and the user can even receive an image of deposited checks on the ATM receipt.

"We are pleased to provide our ATM users access to the industry-leading technology driving these machines," Fred Cook, chief information officer at BlueShore Financial, said in the release. "Our clients and exchange card holders will have an enriched ATM experience, while we will be able to reduce costs associated with back-end processing management. And, with cash still making up a significant number of point-of-sale transactions, according to the Bank of Canada, we will be increasing our value to customers by giving them access to a simpler and streamlined means for depositing and withdrawing currency."

"The ATM is a critical touch point for financial institutions, as consumers seek more convenient ways to manage their money," said David McCrary, executive vice president of product solutions for the North American Business Group of Cardtronics. "Enabling modern self-service deposit capabilities both drives down costs and improves the consumer experience."
