Bitcoin Depot announce hackers stole $3.6M from wallets

Bitcoin Depot announced that a hacker gained access to its systems and took control of company's wallets on March 23, according to an SEC filing. The hacker was able to steal 50.903 bitcoin, equal to $3.665 million.

Bitcoin Depot claims that the "incident was contained to the company's corporate environment and did not affect the company's customer platforms, divisions, systems, data or environments."

In the incident, the hacker transferred the bitcoin from corporate wallets to one controlled by them. The hacker has yet to be identified.

"As the investigation of the incident is ongoing, the full scope, nature and impact of the incident are not yet completely known," Bitcoin Depot stated in the filing.

Recently, Bitcoin Depot's CEO stepped down due to business pressures.
