Grupo Financiero Banorte, a Mexican financial institution, teamed up with Hitachi Vantara, a subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd., to power its data center and a digital transformation initiative to improve its digital banking platform. Banorte has more than 1,200 branches and around 7,300 ATMs in the country, according to a press release.

Banorte recently moved its mainframe data center to Queretaro and added Hitachi Vantara's Virtual Storage Platform systems and Universal Replicator for a translation of 450 terabytes of data. With these systems, the data center has cut transaction response times in half and improved the overall digital banking experience.

With the solutions, the bank can perform its operations on memory instead of on disc, which boosts processing speed.

"Our strategic goal is to turn ordinary banking services into something extraordinary. Our digital capabilities are crucial to drive this strategy, as they will allow us to deliver hyper-personalized customer experiences," Delfin Ruiz, chief technology infrastructure officer, Banorte, said in the release. "Hitachi Vantara is constantly evolving and improving their solutions, which in turn supports the growth of our own digital capabilities. We trust Hitachi's technology and people to deliver for Banorte for years to come."
