Another day, another data breach to report. Three, actually. The card data of Sears, Kmart and Delta Air Lines customers may have been compromised in a cyberattack on a software service provider, according to a MarketWatch report.
The breach, which occurred in late September at [24]7.ai, was resolved on Oct. 12, the report said. The two retailers and Delta have acknowledged the possible data exposure, and said they learned of the incident only last week.
"At this point, even though only a small subset of our customers would have been exposed, we cannot say definitively whether any of our customers' information was actually accessed or subsequently compromised," Delta said in a statement.
A New York Post report said that just a “small subset” of Delta customers were affected, according to the airline. The airline is reportedly building a website to inform customers and update them about the incident.
According to MarketWatch, Sears said the breach may have provided unauthorized access to the credit card data of 100,000 customers but that internal and in-store systems were not affected.
