BEIJING -- According to the Xinhua News Agency, The Bank of China today signed an agreement with American Express to allow its cardholders access to the bank's ATM network in China.
This will give American Express cardholders immediate access to 526 BOC ATMs. Another 2,100 ATMs will be available in 1999.
BOC is the only Chinese bank that has opened its ATM network to other cardholders. Its ATM network is available to Visa and Mastercard International. Its new computerized creditcard network opened early
this year and can be accessed through more than 600 ATM machines throughout China.
