Bank of America announced it will give $250,000 to the American Red Cross for disaster relief for wildfires currently impacting the Pacific Northwest and other western states. With this funding, the American Red Cross can deliver supplies, meals and shelter to those impacted by the fires in Washington, Colorado, Oregon, Nevada and Utah, according to a press release.

These wildfires have burned a total of a million acres, according to a report by Newsweek. It was caused by drought and hot temperatures. In addition to the funding, Bank of America is matching employee donations dollar for dollar.

"The loss and destruction caused by these wildfires is heartbreaking," Lauren Murray, Spokane and Boise market president, Bank of America, said in the release. "Recovery will take time, and the impacts of these fires will be felt long after the flames are extinguished. Our thoughts are with the brave first responders and everyone affected as communities begin the process of rebuilding and healing.
