Online banking is making big strides at Bank of America (NYSE: BAC). The Charlotte-based banking giant said the number of customers banking online now exceeds three million, representing 20 percent of its total checking account customer base.
The number of online customers has grown rapidly since last March, when Bank of America became the first U.S. bank to surpass two million online customers. More than 130,000 online customers are signing up for online services each month.
Other numbers released by Bank of America indicate an increased use of electronic billing and payments. In October, 3.1 million electronic payments with a value of more than $1 billion were recorded.
