A security audit of 126 bank branches and ATMs in India's Kaithal district reveals several branches failed to comply with police security guidelines.
Of the branches audited, 74 bank branches with ATMs did not have security guards on the premises, 31 were without any kind of sensor alarm and 13 branches had CCTV security cameras and/or ATMs out of order, according to a report in The India Tribune.
The audit was carried out by police and based on 12 security parameters, including having on-site security guards, operational CCTV cameras and operational ATMs.
"By not adhering to security guidelines, banks become easy target of robbers," Superintendent of Police Shashank Kumar Sawan told the news outlet.
According to Sawan, a meeting was held with bank officials to go over the guidelines again and request that moving forward all branches comply.
