BAI RD: MagTek announces PCI certification for IPAD PIN-encrypting devices
November 5, 2009
MagTek announced this week at BAI that its IPAD family of PIN-encrypting devices (PEDs) has achieved full PCI PED 2.0 certification.
According to a news release from MagTek, the IPAD protects the PIN and the card data as it authenticates the payment card used and provides strong encryption at the point of swipe, a secure transaction token and dynamic data authentication. The company also says the IPAD uses a 32-bit security processor, has multiple independent levels of anti-tamper protection, features a capacitative touch keypad designed to detect tampering attempts and supports secure PKI-based factory and remote key injection.
