LOS ANGELES -- Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) is crossing the border, providing an international ATM remittance service to Mexicans beginning in May, according to a company release.
Using telephone, Internet and ATM networks, SafeSend will allow consumers to send money from any location with a phone or computer to Mexico around the clock. The recipient in Mexico uses a secure personal identification number (PIN) and a SafeSend ATM card to access the money within minutes at any of the country's 20,000 ATMs.
SafeSend is B of A's first service developed exclusively for Hispanics, the release said. An advertising campaign featuring SafeSend launches May 6.
