Australian skimming scam hits more states, banks

The West Australian:Cards and PINs of West Australians have been stolen in an elaborate skimming scam that police say is the first crime of its kind in the region. The discovery of a skimming device attached to a BankWest ATM in Scarborough comes just days after an international crime syndicate targeted Melbourne ATMs in a four-week spree that cost more than 5,000 cardholders hundreds of thousands of dollars. Sgt Greg Hart confirmed that criminals had gained access to personal information and money and said he could not rule out involvement from the international crime syndicate behind the Melbourne scam.
