After Jan. 12, 2016, Microsoft will end support for early releases of the applications on all but a few designated operating systems, the association says.

The ATM Industry Association has issued an alert advising members around the globe that, as of Jan. 12, 2016, Microsoft will discontinue support for Internet Explorer versions 11 and lower, and for all versions of .NET framework except 3.5 SP1 and 4.5.2.
In a press release, ATMIA said it believes that hundreds of thousands of ATMs around the world run Internet Explorer, and that many use releases that predate version 11.
"Most ATM deployers in the world need to plan ahead to prepare for this change as unsupported components can lead to PCI non-compliance," said ATMIA CEO Mike Lee.
In the alert, ATMIA-endorsed consultant Véronique Delsalle said that after the Jan. 12 deadline, only the latest version of IE or .NET issued for a particular operating system will be supported by Microsoft.
"As an example, currently for Windows 7 Professional, Microsoft supports IE 8, 9, 10, and 11," Delsalle said. "This is because the product [Windows 7 Professional] originally shipped with IE 8. Come January 2016, Microsoft will only support IE 11 on Windows 7 Professional.
Delsalle said that Microsoft will continue to support IE11 until it ends extended support for the Windows 7 Professional operating system in Jan. 14, 2020.
As for the .NET framework, the ATMIA release said Microsoft will support only two versions beyond January 2016:
ATMIA recommends that ATM deployers check with suppliers to identify potentially unsupported software in their fleets. They should then certify the latest .NET and IE releases within their software environment and migrate to those versions prior to the Microsoft deadline.
