The ATM Industry Association and the Latin American Association of Electronic Funds Transfer and Information Service Operators have formed a cooperative relationship to serve the Latin American ATM and payments market.
ATEFI members operate a majority of the ATM debit networks in the region and have close relationships with banks and independent ATM operators. The agreement is intended to advance collaboration and synergy between the associations, strengthening the industry in the region and yielding greater value for each organization's members, according to a press release.
ATEFI members will receive special group pricing on ATMIA Academy online education and training services for ATM operations staff. Other areas of cooperation may include exchanges of industry information, efforts to promote fraud prevention, and an exchange of speakers for industry events, the release said.
"We are very pleased to have formed this new relationship with ATEFI," said David Tente, executive director for ATMIA Latin America. "Their existing relationships and presence in the region will be of significant help in growing and strengthening the industry."
"ATMIA's best practices and training resources, as well as their efforts in helping the industry fight fraud, are very much of interest to our members," said Oscar Castellano, executive director of ATEFI. "We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with ATMIA."
The ATM Industry Association, founded in 1997, is a global non-profit trade association with over 10,500 members in 65 countries. The membership base covers the full range of this worldwide industry comprising over 2.2 million installed ATMs.
