ATMeye.iQ cracks North American market with planned installation on 9K US ATMs

November 3, 2017

BS/2 has entered an agreement to install its ATMeye.iQ software on 9,000 ATMs serviced by one of the largest providers in the U.S., with implementation to take place in 2018, a company press release said.

The agreement represents the first U.S. deal for the 25-year-old Lithuanian provider of banking software and equipment. The company said its ATMeye.iQ security software is already installed on ATMs in 78 other countries.

"The main factor that determines the ATMeye.iQ popularity is its functionality," BS/2 Deputy Director General Tomas Augucevičius said in the release. "We offer our customers a centralized system that allows monitoring the entire ATM network at any time. In case of an alarm, it immediately connects to CCTV cameras — and promptly follows the progress of financial transactions at one or another device."

The system also sends an alert — along with photos and video — to the ATM operator and security team when it detects an attempt to crack the ATM, install a skimming device, or use a blacklisted card in the machine, the release said.

The solution is capable of capturing not only the moment of the transaction, but also the time preceding it, a feature that can be useful in tracing the identity and actions of perpetrators.

The software's ability to link a transaction to a specific card offers additional security, the release said. In the case of a disputed transaction, the program can find the item in question searching by card number, ATM, date, time, and more, allowing prompt resolution of the issue, the release said.

The company said its software meets the requirements of the international Payment Application Data Security Standard, and, since its release in 2001, has been installed on approximately 70,000 ATMs worldwide — now including the United States.

"It's great that the client has chosen our company," Augucevičius said. "We are especially proud that our software will be installed on some 9,000 ATMs, enabling us to gain a foothold in the U.S. market. This gives us confidence that we're on the right track."

The company said that the next step in the evolution of ATMeye.iQ will be face detection functionality that recognizes a customer and allows that person to withdraw cash from an ATM without entering a PIN.

Additionally, the release said, BS/2 is considering the introduction into North America of additional products related to security and business process optimization for the banking and retail sectors.
