ATM transactions and the state of the industry

The recent release of two industry studies generated a flurry of articles about declining ATM transaction volumes. In this white paper, Diebold says erroneous conclusions based on those numbers might present an inaccurate picture of the state of the industry.

The recent release of two industry studies - EFT Data Book 2005 Edition, issued by ATM & Debit News, and 2004 ATM Deployer Study, prepared by Dove Consulting - has generated a flurry of articles about declining ATM transaction volumes. In this white paper, Diebold, Inc., issues a word of caution, saying these numbers have value as a means of comparing transaction activity within the defined segments of the ATM industry, but by trying to apply absolute value to these figures, some analysts/reporters are drawing conclusions that may not be justified.
