FREMONT, Calif. -- Police are looking for a pair of would-be thieves who tried to steal an ATM from an Ardenwood neighborhood gas station early on Jan. 16 -- but apparently couldn't lift it or fit it into the black SUV they were driving.
The men unplugged the machine, located outside the gas station, and cut the telephone line, according to a report in the Tri-Valley Herald. But they abandoned their effort after realizing the machine was too bulky for them.
Police were unable to locate the men, but they have the 3:20 a.m. incident on tape and are investigating. Both suspects wore beanies over their faces.
