ATM deployer ensures cash continuity in UK villages

March 8, 2012

Cashzone, an independent ATM provider in the UK, announced that it has installed 24-hour ATMs at four new Santander banking branches in villages in St. Helens, Merseyside.

Cash machines had been removed in Thatto Heath, Fingerpost, Rainford and Billinge following the closure of Lloyd's Halifax bank branches. Banking services provider Alexander House Agencies Ltd subsequently set up the Santander banking branches in partnership with the St. Helens council and contracted Cashzone to provide crucial ATM services.

The free-use ATMs support local businesses and residents who otherwise might have had to travel miles to the town center to carry out banking and cash withdrawal without the intervention of the Council and Alexander House Ltd.

“This is a landmark initiative by Alexander House which has been effective at replacing all the local banking facilities without branch loss.  This excellent initiative has been very important to the local communities affected. The Council has been proud to support the scheme,” commented Councillor Andy Bowden, cabinet member for urban regeneration and housing in St. Helens.

“We also recognize that access to cash is vital in sustaining local district centers and their businesses and the communities as a whole, so commend Cashzone in playing a key role in seamlessly maintaining these lifelines.”
