ATM cards compromised via mobile text messaging

The Buffalo News reports that police in Buffalo, N.Y., are telling consumers not to release personal information via text messaging. A new scam is hitting mobile phones in which scammers are shooting out text messages claiming to be from the Buffalo Credit Union. Those contacted are told that their ATM cards have been "suspended" and should call a phone number to have the cards reactivated. When the number is called, users are prompted to enter their card numbers.
