ENFIELD, Conn. -- More than 40 ATM users were recently victimized by thieves using skimming devices at ATMs in New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut, according to an Associated Pressreport.
Police believe three thieves used skimmers and cameras to steal ATM users' card data and PINs. The skimmers were used in card slots that gave customers access to the ATM kiosk.
Detectives say that the suspects spent four days in the parking lot, scanning numbers and then duplicating dozens of cards.
The thieves withdrew more than $50,000 from FleetBoston Financial bank accounts over the past three weeks, according to the APreport.
