API developer portal lets FIs create custom fintech applications

NCR Corp. has launched a cloud-based developer portal that allows financial institutions to build their own digital banking applications to meet the unique needs of their customers, according to a company press release.

The portal provides digital banking application program interfaces, a software development kit and third-party software connections designed by Digital Insight, an NCR company, to provide FIs with the data and services their in-house developers need to create and integrate custom applications.

"The Developer Portal … enables growth for financial institutions through the use of technology and an open, flexible platform," said Jose Resendiz, vice president and general manager at NCR Digital Insight. "We are focused on offering solutions and services that give financial institutions the capability to transform their vision into reality, differentiate in the markets they serve, and ultimately meet their goals."

Key services include:

• API – allows the users of the development portal to view and test currently available APIs and associated documentation. FIs can request access to APIs as well as monitor production use;
• SDK – provides user interface builder tools for the creation of new pages and widgets, as well as integration and style guides for a seamless and consistent user experience;
• app gallery – presents a variety of developed applications to show the user what is possible; and
• support – includes FAQs, code samples and a customer forum where developers can exchange information, tips and best practices.
