Another large credit union joins Co-Op Network

April 29, 2003

ONTARIO, Calif. -- United Airlines Employees' Credit Union (UAECU), the sixth largest credit union in the country with more than $4 billion in assets and more than 166,000 members, has joined the Co-Op Network.

With the addition of UAECU, seven of the top 10 credit unions in the U.S. are now members of the Co-Op Network, according to a news release.

That includes the five leading airline credit unions in the U.S. "Credit unions with mobile memberships recognize the unique convenience and connection Co-Op Network provides with nearly 16,500 surcharge-free ATMs and access to 800,000 ATMs globally," said Robert Rose, Co-Op's chief executive, in the release.

Noting that about 94 percent of UAECU's 25 million annual transactions are electronic, UAECU Chief Operating Officer Bob Newcomb said in the release, "We feel Co-Op Network, which offers extensive ATM access for our membership, provides the ideal solution for expanding our surcharge-free ATM and deposit capabilities throughout North America."
