An industry first: ATM cardless cash app from FIS gets biometric security

This month The Bancorp will become the first FI to roll out the new security feature for its mobile app from FIS.

April 1, 2015

FIS, a provider of banking and payments technology, has added biometric access to its mobile application to further ensure that only authorized users can access their FIS mobile accounts, a press release said.

In April, owners of Apple TouchID-enabled mobile devices can begin using the biometric feature for FIS Cardless Cash access at the ATM — a first in the industry, the company said. FIS plans to introduce biometric support for Android mobile users later this year.

"One-touch cardless cash is unlike anything else in the market," said Douglas Brown, SVP and GM of mobile financial services at FIS. "The ability to access your account and withdraw money with just your fingerprint will make ATM access faster, safer and easier for users."

The Bancorp is one of the first financial services companies to offer to its banking customers biometric security in mobile.

"We are committed to ... letting our customers bank when, where and how they want to — with the highest security," said Pete Chiccino, CIO of The Bancorp. "The Bancorp is delighted to partner with FIS in offering fingerprint access to our customers. It's something they can't currently get anywhere else."
