Ameris Bank to donate $2.23M to rural Georgia hospitals

Ameris Bank, based in Atlanta, is donating $2.23 million to 40 rural hospitals in Georgia through the Georgia Heart Hospital Program. The majority of these hospitals are in areas where Ameris does not have a branch, according to a press release.

The bank is utilizing the Georgia Rural Hospital Tax Credit, which allows businesses to redirect Georgia income tax liability to support hospitals instead.

"Ameris is proud to support our rural hospitals and the communities they serve," Palmer Proctor, CEO, Ameris Bank, said in the release. "The Georgia HEART Hospital Program is important because it not only provides much needed funding to these crucial hospitals, but also allows them to choose how the money is best spent to care for their patients."
