Bitcoin ATM operator Alphavend U.K. has installed two bitcoin kiosks in Scotland — one in Dundee and another in Aberdeen — both in areas of heavy foot traffic.
Alphavend's crypto kiosk is the first in Dundee, Scotland's fourth-largest city. And it is the second in Aberdeen, Scotland's third-most populous city, which is already the home of a bitcoin kiosk operated by Shitcoins Club at the Trinity Centre shopping mall.
At the moment, the Alphavend machines only sell bitcoin. "We see little demand for the other coins," a company spokesperson told ATM Marketplace in an email.
Alphavend now has a total of 19 bitcoin ATMs in 14 cities across the U.K., and the company said it is planning to add plenty more. According to CoinATM Radar, it charges 13.5% on top of each crypto transaction.
There are now more than 6,000 bitcoin ATMs in the world. Nearly two-thirds of those are in the U.S. and only 295 are in the U.K.
