Additional financial services providers ante up for Harvey relief efforts

August 30, 2017

The PNC Foundation, which receives its principal funding from The PNC Financial Services Group, has announced that it will donate $250,000 to the American Red Cross for relief efforts in areas affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Additionally, the foundation will match PNC employee contributions to ARC hurricane relief up to a total of $100,000, a press release said.

"We are deeply concerned for the people affected by Hurricane Harvey," Randy Wilhoit, PNC regional president for Dallas-Ft. Worth, said in the release. "Donations from the PNC Foundation and PNC employees will help these communities as they continue to deal with the devastation."

Co-op Financial Services is donating $10,000 to CUAid, an online disaster relief system, to help Texas credit unions and their members who have been battered by Tropical Storm Harvey.

The donation augments the nationwide Co-op Shared Branch and Co-op ATM networks used extensively in credit union business continuity and recovery during times of disaster, according to a Co-op press release.

"Tropical Storm Harvey has dramatically reminded us that natural disasters can come upon us with amazing speed," Co-op President and CEO Todd Clark said in the release. "We have been proactively contacting clients in the impacted areas to assess needs and determine where we can help. The $10,000 donation on behalf of our client credit unions is one expression of that outreach, and available at all times to members of participating credit unions is our vast networks of branches and ATMs, ensuring access to accounts for those displaced by the flooding."

CUAid is an online disaster relief system organized by the National Credit Union Foundation. Money raised helps credit union employees, volunteers and members affected by the powerful tropical storm; 100 percent of funds donated go directly to relief efforts.
