ACI and Diebold demo intelligent check handling at BAI expo

November 19, 2003

NEW ORLEANS--Diebold, Incorporated (NYSE:DBD) and ACI Worldwide (NASDAQ:TSAI) are demonstrating intelligent check handling on an ATM at BAI's Retail Delivery Conference & Expo, Nov. 19-20. According to a news release, the check imaging solution will be displayed on Diebold's Opteva 720 advanced-function ATM in booth #2246.

The demonstration will focus on Diebold's Intelligent Depository Module (IDM), which accepts a check deposit without the use of an envelope. According to the release, this increases the accuracy and speed of the transaction.

An image of a check is captured and displayed on the terminal screen for verification and the check image is printed on the receipt along with the transaction details.

In 1991, Diebold joined forces with ACI to bring the first application of checking-imaging technology to the ATM. Working with a major eastern financial institution, Diebold brought the convenience of depositing and cashing a check to the drive-up lanes of banks across America. Now Diebold and ACI are teaming up again to implement the next step in check handling by allowing financial institutions to cut processing costs and reduce fraud by allowing check images to be processed and routed electronically.
