A shooter killed five people and injured eight Monday at an Old National Bank branch in Louisville, Kentucky. The man was an employee of the branch and all those killed were bank employees, according to a report by Courier Journal.
Of those injured, three are in critical condition, including one who passed away, according to a report by the New York Times. In addition, three have been released and three more are in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two Louisville Metro Police Department officers are among the injured.
"Today is a day that is heartbreaking for our city, for all of us, especially for the people in that office at Old National Bank and their loved ones," Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said at a press conference.
Police have confirmed the shooter is dead.
"There are no words to adequately describe the sadness and devastation that our Old National family is experiencing as we grieve the tragic loss of our team members and pray for the recovery of all those who were injured," Jim Ryan, CEO of Old National Bank, said in a press release. "Obviously, this is an incredibly difficult situation, and our entire focus is on making sure that everyone affected has the support and assistance they need. On behalf of everyone at Old National, I also want to acknowledge and thank Louisville law enforcement, the medical community and state and local officials for their incredible response to this tragedy. And finally, we ask you to please continue to pray for all those affected."
Old National Bank is based in Evansville, Indiana and has nearly 200 branches in the Midwest.
